The Price of Bedsheets - Cost involved in Making a Bedsheet

Bedsheet, a fabric to cover your bed mattress. A bedsheet also sometimes called as bed sheet is actually single word and as both the bed and sheet is written together to make it a bedsheet.

Do you know what is the cost of a bedsheet? How is the cost calculated? Ever wondered what is the optimum price of a bed sheet? Let us try to give you a brief explanation of the whole structure of a bedsheet.

Bedsheet actually involves just the fabric which is either printed or embroidered or plain (solid) along with 2 stitched matching pillow covers. Bed sheet is generally hemmed from two sides and the rest of the two sides have default piping of the fabric.

  • The Cost of Fabric: Most of the cost of the bedsheet is taken up in acquiring the fabric, the fabric costs in wholesale market ranges differently for different fabric, also the price differs according to the size of the bedsheet. So overall 55-60% of the cost of a double bedsheet with 2 pillow covers is the fabric costs only.

  • The Cost of Printing: Almost 20-25% of the cost of double bedsheet with 2 pillow covers is the cost of getting the fabric printed either in Sanganer, Jaipur or in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

  • The Cost of Stitching, Finishing, Packaging: Almost 10% of the cost of the bedsheet is done on Stitching, Finishing and Packaging.

  • Other Expenses: Expenses like staff, cartage and other petty expenses take up the remaining cost while making up a bedsheet.

Optimum Price of a Printed Double Bedsheet:
Each 100% pure cotton double bedsheet in the size of 220 x 240 cms or 86 x 94 inches with 2 standard size matching pillow covers should be in the range of Rs. 549 to 599. Any double bedsheet being sold below this price is either not 100% pure cotton, or the fabric quality is extremely low, or the size is lower than what is mentioned above.

A good quality bedsheet should last for about a year or more without colour fades or fabric getting teared apart.
